Guilty plea in death of 7-month-old Easley boy
EASLEY, S.C. (AP) — A 37-year-old Piedmont man has pleaded guilty in the death of his girlfriend’s 7-month-old baby.
Kevin Brian Adams was sentenced Monday to five years of probation after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He also got credit for time already served in jail.
Adams was arrested in May 2010 and originally was charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of Braydon Alexander Odell of Easley. Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley says the boy died from head injuries. Authorities said Adams grabbed, shook or violently moved the child.
The boy’s mother, grandmother and father all testified on Adams’ behalf. Adams’ lawyer said his client thought the boy had something stuck in his throat and was trying to help him.
