Food and Wine Festival returns to Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Wine, barbecue and tacos are among the staples being offered at the Charleston Wine and Food Festival.

Opening night for the four-day event is scheduled for Thursday. The event runs through Sunday at locations around the city.

Returning this year is the culinary village with various food offerings in Marion Square on the edge of the city’s historic district.

On Friday, there’s an event called Taco Turf Wars in which chefs from across the country will compete using Lowcountry ingredients in their tacos.

Throughout the festival, there will also be cookbook signings, author talks and cooking demonstrations.
