Cops: Man arrested for exposing self at car wash

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Police say they are trying to figure out if a man arrested without pants after grabbing a woman in a car wash is connected to a string of indecent exposure cases in an upscale Columbia neighborhood.

Authorities said they took 20-year-old Charles Sowell III into custody Wednesday night after a woman said a man who called her to his car for directions turned out to be wearing no pants and grabbed her. She got away unharmed.

There have been at least three other indecent exposure reports in the area in the past three months, but no one has been charged.

Sowell is charged with indecent exposure and second-degree assault and battery. He is being held on a $10,000 bond and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
