Teams at Citadel compete on 6-mile obstacle course

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Water jugs, heavy equipment and running steps are the challenges facing a number of teams participating in a competition at The Citadel to benefit a charity.

In the Bulldog Challenge, teams of four compete by navigating a six-miole obstacle course that includes, among other things, hauling water jugs and 25-pound sand bags, flipping large tires from heavy equipment and running up and down the steps of the college’s football stadium.

The team registration fees support charities selected by the Semper Fi Society at the college.

Last year, more than $15,000 was raised for a scholarship in named for a Citadel grad killed in combat in Iraq four years ago.
