SC students visiting UK to study soccer economics
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Some College of Charleston students are spending their spring break in the United Kingdom learning about the business of professional soccer.
The 14 students leave Sunday on a seven-day trip during which they will visit the stadiums of five professional teams, watch a couple of matches and talk the business of soccer with team and university officials.
The trip caps a seven-week study of the business of soccer the College of Charleston calls the UK Soccer Experience.
The college’s director of freshman admissions, Jimmie Foster, says another goal of the program is to give the students an idea of what it’s like to study abroad so they may be interested in spending an entire semester abroad later.
