Charleston officials identify drowned boater

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Charleston County authorities have released the name of a man who drowned when his boat overturned in the Stono River earlier this week.

Coroner Rae Wooten says 61-year-old Dr. Charles Kisabeth died Sunday evening after the small boat he and his son-in-law were in flipped.

Officials say Kisabeth and his son-in-law had launched a 14-foot aluminum boat into a creek beside his home. They encountered high winds when they moved from the creek into the open Stono River.

Neither man was wearing a life jacket. The son-in-law swam to shore.

The pediatrician’s body was found about two hours later downstream.
