Spartanburg senator’s business faces foreclosure
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Spartanburg senator says his trucking company is going through a tough time.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported (http://bit.ly/AvrHH3 ) that Sen. Lee Bright’s On Time Trucking faces foreclosure. A lawsuit by Capital Bank says Bright has not paid its mortgage since June and owes more than $318,000.
The bank seeks back mortgage payments, interest and legal fees from the Roebuck company.
The Republican lawmaker says many businesses are struggling and he is not immune to the problems. Bright says increased fuel prices and what he called some of the changes at the federal level have driven up costs.
He has filed a counterclaim seeking to halt the foreclosure procedure and resume making regular payments.
The company has operated since 1997. Bright has been in the Senate since 2009.
