Mount Pleasant police major quits after DUI charge
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — The second-ranking police officer in Mount Pleasant has resigned after his arrest on charges of drunken driving last weekend.
Maj. Frank Riccio resigned Tuesday.
He had been arrested Saturday afternoon after his sports utility vehicle turned on its side in the median on U.S. 17 near Georgetown. He was not hurt.
Riccio had been on paid leave before announcing his resignation.
Police Chief Harry Sewell says Riccio had provided what he called “exemplary” service for 29 years before his arrest. .
