2 Pedestrians Struck, Killed by Logging Truck

SANTEE, S.C. (AP) _ State troopers say two pedestrians were struck and killed by a log truck that was swerving to miss a car left in the road from a previous wreck. Authorities said 43-year-old Melvin Felder and 20-year-old Marvin King died shortly after they were struck around 5 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and state Highway 47. Troopers say the log truck’s driver was heading south on U.S. 301 when he hit the victims as he avoided hitting a car still in the road from a previous wreck. The Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
