SC teacher fired for movie clip wants job back

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — A high school teacher in Mount Pleasant who was fired for showing a movie clip from the film “Jackass Number 2” wants his job back.

Former Wando High School teacher Christopher Poston appealed his firing on Thursday.

An attorney for Poston wrote in the appeal letter that showing students sexually explicit video clips might have instructional value. The letter says Poston thought the movie clip would be of value to his sociology students as an example of society behavior and expectations of conduct. The letter asks that his contributions be compared with a brief mistake.

Poston said he wanted to apologize and that his actions were inexcusable and he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.

The Charleston County School Board will decide whether he can resume teaching.
