SC trooper hurt in wreck chasing motorcycle

EASLEY, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been injured after he wrecked his car while chasing a speeding motorcycle in Pickens County.

The wreck happened around 4 a.m. Monday outside Easley.

Public Safety Department spokesman Sid Gaulden says Trooper K.K. Bratcher suffered two broken legs, burned feet and a broken wrist. He was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Gaulden says Bratcher radioed that he was on state Highway 153 chasing a motorcycle that had been going more than 100 mph. Gaulden says Bratcher apparently ran off the left side of the road on a curve and hit several trees. The car overturned and caught fire.

Investigators have not found the motorcycle driver.

Pickens County sheriff’s deputies are investigating.
