Rally supporting open records set at SC Statehouse

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Sunshine Week in South Carolina is being celebrated with a rally at the Statehouse supporting the Freedom of Information Act.

The rally at 4 p.m. Wednesday on the first floor of the capitol is bringing together people from across the political spectrum.

A Richland County school board member, a Republican candidate for state Senate, another Republican sponsoring a bill to reduce copying and administrative costs for records request and a tea party member are all scheduled to speak.

Sunshine Week is set aside to remind the public how important having a strong open records law is to keeping government accountable.
