Duley Pleads Guilty, Sentence Delayed

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) — A South Carolina judge has delayed sentencing for 30-year-old Shaquan Duley, an Orangeburg woman who admitted to suffocating and strangling her two toddler sons before sending her car, children strapped inside, into a river back in August, 2010. Shaquan Duley has been held without bond for 577 days since her arrest in the deaths of her boys, 2-year-old Devean and 18-month-old Ja’van. During Friday’s hearing, Shaquan Duley and her family addressed sobbed, begged and pleaded with the judge that he have mercy in sentencing Duley. Divers pulled the boys’ bodies from a river on August 16, 2010. Duley initially told police she fell asleep at the wheel before the car went into the river about 40 miles south of Columbia, but authorities questioned her story after finding no signs of a crash. The judge will review the evidence and render a decision for sentencing during the week if of March 26.
