SC State University Names Acting President

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) –South Carolina State University has named an acting president until the school can choose an interim president. Interim vice president for academic affairs Rita Teal was named to her new position Friday. She was moved into her vice president role last month after the university fired eight administrators amid an ongoing investigation into misconduct and mismanagement. President George Cooper announced his resignation earlier this month after a committee of the faculty senate released a statement asking him to leave, saying the historically black university was in a state of crisis.
