Loaded gun found in bag at Columbia Metro Monday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A loaded gun was found in a passenger’s bag while trying to board a local flight. The incident happened Monday afternoon around 3 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitian Airport. According to airport officials, TSA officers found the .380 in a passenger’s carry-on bag at the checkpoint. Airport police were alerted and took the bag. The passenger was cited on a local charge. It is important to note that firearms can be transported in checked baggage if the airline knows about them. The weapon also has to be in a proper carrying case and unloaded.
