Clock is Ticking on USC Class Schedule

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C—USC officials say by fall of 2013, students and staff will be able to hit the snooze button a few more times as administrators shift from 8 am classes to 8:30. University Vice Provost, Timothy Doupnik says out of the 200 classes they have on campus only 40 to 45 percent of them are being used during the 8 am hour. Instead, more students are opting for later classes where Doupnik says they consistently have 100 percent enrollment. Officials say this isn’t something that has happened overnight, but it has now gotten to the point where they feel they need to do something about it to better utilize the space they do have. This isn’t the only change students can anticipate once they return to school in the fall. Officials say they’re also increasing the amount of time students have to get to back to back classes. officials say 15 minutes is no longer enough time to accommodate the growing student body and ever expanding campus. Instead, students will have 20 minutes to get to their next class. Again, these changes will go into effect beginning in the fall of 2013.
