Woman admits taking $700,000 from Columbia doctors

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a 43-year-old Blythewood woman has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $700,000 from a group of doctors who trusted her to keep their books.

Authorities said Robin Maner admitted Friday she used the credit cards issued to doctors in a Columbia radiology practice to take $672,000 over five years.

Prosecutors say Maner used the money for her own expenses, paying for things like cosmetic surgery, cruises, jewelry, electronics and furniture.

Maner pleaded guilty to wire fraud and faces up to 30 years in prison when she is sentenced at a later date.
