Pregnant SC woman arrested after cigarette theft

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Orangeburg police say a pregnant woman stole three packs of cigarettes from a grocery store, then used a knife to threaten a clerk who tried to stop her.

Investigators said 30-year-old Latricia Bonaparte went into a grocery store earlier this week and asked for the cigarettes,

Police say she took them from the clerk and did not pay. When another employee confronted her, authorities say Bonaparte pulled a knife and told the employees to leave her alone.

Bonaparte is charged with armed robbery. It wasn’t clear if she has an attorney.
