SC mother to be sentenced in sons’ deaths

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina mother faces a possible life sentence after admitting she killed her two young sons, before staging a watery car crash scene.
Circuit Judge Edgar Dickson will sentence Shaquan Duley (shah-KWAHN’ DOO’-lee) on Friday in Orangeburg.
Duley pleaded guilty earlier this month to two charges of murder in the deaths of her sons, 2-year-old Devean and 18-month-old Ja’van. The 30-year-old mother pleaded guilty earlier this month to suffocating the boys.
Her attorney has said that Duley tried to kill herself the night of her sons’ deaths and was depressed after a fight with relatives over her parenting abilities.
Duley made no deal with prosecutors. She faces between 30 years and life in prison.
