SC Wildlife Federation creates new outdoor Academy

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A wildlife organization is creating a new program to educate people about the world of nature by combining several of its popular programs.
The South Carolina Wildlife Federation said it is creating the Palmetto Outdoor Academy.
The academy includes several popular federation programs, like the Midlands Master Naturalist courses and the Women’s Outdoor Recreation Retreat.
It will also have a new program called the Palmetto Pro Birder program, which will train volunteers to be able to identify birds by sight, sound and behavior. That data can be used by researchers studying bird populations and migration patterns.
