Monday After The Masters

N. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WOLO) — It’s a South Carolina golf tradition unlike any other. For the 18th straight year, Hootie & The Blowfish teed off Monday After The Masters. The event that started at Spring Valley Country Club has grown into one of the biggest pro-ams in the country. Gamecock football great Sterling Sharpe paired with PGA Tour pro Ken Duke to win the event at -20. Buffalo Bills back-up quarterback Tyler Thigpen won the long drive contest. The Winnsboro native and former Coastal Carolina beat out the likes of actor Alfonso Ribiero (Carlton from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) and singer Javier Colon (last year’s winner of “The Voice) with a drive of 359 yards. PGA Tour players Jim Furyk and Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey were among the notables in the field, along with Kansas City Chiefs and former Gamecock kicker Ryan Succop. This event has raised more than $5 million for South Carolina charities.
