Brig. Gen. Roberts takes over Fort Jackson
FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) — A veteran of three tours in Iraq has taken command at Fort Jackson in Columbia.
Brig. Gen. Bryan Roberts took command Tuesday from Maj. Gen. James Milano, who retired after 33 years in uniform.
Roberts says he is going to use his experience in Iraq and as a top Army recruiter to help mold the more than 60,000 soldiers that come through the Army’s largest training post every year.
Roberts served as deputy commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command at Fort Knox., Ky., and as commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team with the 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas. He also has worked at the White House military office and on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.
