Jumbo jumping frogs hop to it for Rock Hill event

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina volunteers are herding some 72 jumbo jumping frogs so kids can compete at the annual Mayor’s Frog Jump in Rock Hill.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/IN7sGe) that hundreds of children are set to compete at the Saturday morning frog jump at Cherry Park.

Volunteers ensured the frogs were ordered in time for the event . They were shipped to Rock Hill in advance from a biological supply firm in North Carolina.

Children are encouraged to catch and bring their own frogs, but extras were ordered to ensure the children had enough to participate in the free event. Volunteers say the frogs that take part are released into the wild after they show their skills.
