Campobello death investigated as homicide

CAMPOBELLO, S.C. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found by a jogger in a wooded area in Campobello.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office says the body of 39-year-old Fred Ramsey of Inman was found Friday about 55 feet off the side of the road.

Deputies say they are investigating the death as a homicide but wouldn’t say what evidence led them to that determination. Campobello police say this death is the town’s first homicide.

Toxicology results from Ramsey’s autopsy are still pending.
