Sheriff: Man found in Campobello was shot to death

CAMPOBELLO, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg County authorities say a man whose body was found in a wooded area in Campobello had been shot.

Deputies say they are still investigating the death of 39-year-old Fred Ramsey.

A jogger found Ramsey’s body off the side of a road late Friday afternoon. Investigators say Ramsey was last seen alive Thursday.

Deputies said Monday they were not sure if Ramsey was shot where he was found or was moved there after his death. Campobello police say this death is the town’s first homicide.

Toxicology results from Ramsey’s autopsy are still pending. No arrests have been made.
