SC attorney general talking voter ID with O’Keefe

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s top prosecutor has defended the state’s voter Identification law at an event that doubled as a fundraiser for a conservative activist.

Attorney General Alan Wilson appeared Tuesday with activist James O’Keefe in Columbia. Organizers who promoted the event as a fundraiser for O’Keefe’s Washington-based nonprofit, Project Veritas, said they couldn’t immediately say how much money was raised.

O’Keefe played a video in which an associate shows a man trying to vote as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder at a Washington, D.C. polling station.

O’Keefe became famous several years ago for wearing a pimp costume in a video that embarrassed the community organizing group ACORN.

Wilson is suing Holder over the U.S. Justice Department’s rejection of South Carolina’s voter ID law.
