Former Lt. Gov. leads 7th District fundraising
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Former Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer leads in the race to raise money in South Carolina’s new 7th Congressional District in the state’s northeastern corner.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/HQ3Xzz ) that campaign reports posted online show Bauer has raised about $575,000 and spent about $250,000. Fellow Republican Tom Rice, the chairman of the Horry County Council, is second with about $412,000 raised and about $120,000 spent.
There are nine Republicans seeking the nomination in the district created because of population growth.
In the five-way Democratic race, state Rep. Ted Vick has raised $385,000 and spent about $80,000. Attorney Preston Brittain has raised about $340,000 and spent about $90,000.
