Horry County police arrest 12-year-old in threat

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A 12-year-old Horry County middle school student has been arrested and suspended from school after a bomb threat Forestbrook Middle School.

Sgt. Robert Kegler says police and a bomb squad went to the Myrtle Beach school Tuesday morning and conducted a search and explosives sweep. Students and staff were allowed to return to class after the check.

Kegler says a 12-year-old boy was arrested. His name was not released because of his age.

Horry County School District spokeswoman Teal Britton told WMBF-TV the student has been suspended pending a hearing before a hearing officer.

It was the second bomb threat at the school this month.
