Spirit adding Myrtle Beach flights

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Spirit Airlines is adding direct flights from Myrtle Beach to Washington and more flights to upstate New York and Florida.

The move will help offset some of the flights the Grand Strand lost when Direct Airlines suspended service last month and filed for bankruptcy.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/HTg799 ) Spirit also is adding flights to Niagara Falls and Plattsburgh in upstate New York and to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., beginning in June.

About half the passengers who pass through the Myrtle Beach International Airport fly on Spirit.
