Richland sheriff invites staff to “Relay for Life”

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is inviting members of his department and the community to join him in a “Relay for Life” to fight cancer.
Friday’s event at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds in Columbia begins at 7 p.m. Participants take part in an overnight relay-style event with teams who take turns walking around a track throughout the night.
Food, games and activities provide entertainment and fundraising opportunities.
The fundraising event is a celebration of those who have battled cancer and survived, and a way to honor those who have lost their battle against the disease.
