Sheriff: Suspect Strikes Deputy with a Car

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says deputies shot at a suspect after he struck one of their own with a car. It happened Thursday night around 8:45 at an apartment complex near the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road. That’s near I-77. The sheriff says deputies were busting a drug deal and taking four suspects into custody when one attempted to flee. He adds when deputies fired, they did strike the suspect twice. That individual’s condition is not known at this time. The deputy’s injuries are believed to be non life-threatening. SLED is currently looking into the shooting incident.
