Clemson celebrates South Carolina’s rural heritage
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina is celebrating its rural heritage in the Pee Dee.
The 2012 Rural Heritage Celebration is scheduled for this weekend at Clemson’s Pee Dee Research and Education Center near Florence.
The event features homegrown foods, information about farming in the state and some history about the state’s agricultural past.
Events include rides on wagons pulled by antique tractors, displays of canoes and kayaks as well as exhibits featuring birds of prey, farm animals and reptiles.
There’s also a corn maze and a butterfly garden.
