Man gets 30 years for killing mother of his child
YORK, S.C. (AP) — A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing the mother of his child, then taking their 2-year-old son, prompting an Amber Alert.
Carl White Jr. pleaded guilty Monday to murder.
Prosecutors say White told investigators he had a gun in his waistband when he went to see 25-year-old Shrece Robinson at a Rock Hill home last May, and she was shot twice as they fought over the gun.
White’s lawyer says he is sorry for the shooting, but White himself declined to speak to the family or judge before he was sentenced.
White was arrested after he was pulled over in Aiken County with his 2-year-old son in the vehicle unharmed.
Circuit Court Judge Lee Alford called it a tragedy if everyone, especially the child.
