Nickelodeon Theater’s Indie Grits Festival Grows

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., — What started out in 2007 as a local film festival has become one of the most anticipated events in the country. People from all over the world converging here to the Midlands to check out everything from arts and crafts to movies and food. The Theater along downtown’s main street and the creator of the Indie Grits Festival,, Andy Smith says he had no idea how quickly the event would catch on. Smith says the initial goal was to create a meeting place for where people could showcase and express their independent artistry. With a growing following, the event has now expanded to 11 days. Just in the last 5 days more than 40 filmmakers from across the country have come to Columbia to showcase their movies.
