SC woman charged with impersonating official
ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (AP) — An Horry County woman has been arrested and accused of impersonating a state or local official during the election in Atlantic Beach last year.
SCNow.com reported (http://bit.ly/Kgb7cE ) 66-year-old Laura Best of Gallivants Ferry was arrested Wednesday.
SCNow.com reported Best once held positions in the Horry County and state Republican Party.
An Atlantic Beach police report says an officer responded to a polling location Nov. 1 where a witness said Best had claimed to be with the South Carolina attorney general’s office sent to observe the election.
Best told the officer she was a volunteer floater for the attorney general.
The attorney general’s office said it was not aware of a floater and said Best did not work for the office.
It was not clear if she has a lawyer.
