Pilot Killed after Small Plane Crashes in Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say a pilot has died after his plane crashed at the Anderson Regional Airport. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said the pilot was practicing takeoffs and landings when the aircraft crashed about 1 p.m. Friday. He was the only person on board. Fire crews and paramedics rushed to the four-seat Cirrus aircraft, which was crumpled and smoldering in a field at the airport just south of the city of Anderson. The name of the pilot has not been released. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
