Winthrop launches website for presidential search

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Winthrop University is searching for a new president for the first time in nearly a quarter century, and the South Carolina college is offering the public a chance to chime in.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/ICdJkH ) the university is launching a web site to gather public input and describing what’s happening in the search for a replacement for President Anthony DiGiorgio.

The web site wants to hear which challenges and opportunities they feel the next president will face and what qualities the school’s new leader should have. Comments and ideas that appear often might be added to materials candidates receive in the search process.

DiGiorgio announced last month he’ll retire as head of the Rock Hill university after the next academic year.
