Ex-Goose Creek pastor gets 26 years on sex charges
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — A former pastor at a Goose Creek church has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a girl for eight years.
Sixty-three-year-old James Doscher of Ladson pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 26 years in prison.
Authorities say Doscher once served as the pastor of New Life Church. Prosecutors say the abuse occurred 10 years ago.
Prosecutors say the girl was abused until she was 14 years old. Officials said the girl told family members when she was 12, but the family took no action.
Prosecutor Anne Williams says the victim is now an adult and came forward because she was worried that others might have been abused.
Doscher more recently had been a small group leader at Faith Assembly in Summerville but was not on the church staff.
