Fallen Officers in the State Remembered
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Law enforcement officers across South Carolina gathered to honor and remember those officers who have died in the line of duty and also those officers that were still active and retired in 2011. In 2011, three law enforcement officers died in the line of duty: Charles Richard “Chuck” Nesbitt, Jr. of the Sumter Police Department, Roger Dale Rice Jr. of the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and Edward Scot “Scotty” Richardson of Aiken Department of Public Safety. The Law Enforcement Memorial service is held annually to remember officers’ service and sacrifice. In addition, a plaque for each officer killed on duty in 2011, will be placed on the wall of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame.
