(WOLO)COLUMBIA, S.C, — They’re the best and the brightest at what they do. Tuesday night however, only one could walk away as Teacher of the Year. Amy McAllister, an English Teacher from Johnsonville High School in Florence County grabbed that honor as dozens of her peers cheered her on for a job well done. State Superintendent, Dr. Mick Zais who was in attendance says, all of the teachers represented at Tuesday night’s event deserve to be celebrated. Zais says it’s not easy juggling challenging curriculum and standardized tests while working overtime to improve the lives and learning of the children in their classrooms.
