Hundreds of volunteers clean Lowcountry highways
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Hundreds of volunteers are taking to the streets and roads in the Charleston area to clean up trash and litter.
The Charleston County Adopt-A-Highway program is holding a litter cleanup on Saturday.
Last year, more than 2,000 volunteers cleared an estimated 50,000 pounds of trash from roads in the county.
Officials are asking motorists to be careful while driving along area roads Saturday because volunteers will be out for the cleanup.
