30 years for teen in deaths of father, step-mother
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — The 19-year-old son of a Georgia couple found shot to death at a boat ramp in South Carolina has been sentenced to 30 years for their deaths.
Landon Sanders was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to murder during a hearing in Anderson.
The Elberton, Ga., teen was arrested last year after the bodies of 36-year-old Jason Sanders and his wife, 23-year-old Candice Sanders, were found by a fisherman at a boat ramp near Lake Russell, close to the Georgia-South Carolina state line.
The couple was shot as they sat in their sports utility vehicle. Investigators said Sanders shot his father and step-mother after an argument.
