3 being honored in North Charleston for heroism
NORTH CHARLESON, S.C. (AP) — Three North Charleston residents are being honored by the city fire department for saving people’s lives.
The awards are being presented Thursday during the city council meeting.
Honoree Thomas Gotbete performed CPR on a stranger who had a heart attack at a convenience store. Gotbeter kept the man alive until emergency workers arrived.
Firefighter Andrew Glover saw smoke coming from a home, entered it and saved two people who were inside sleeping.
The third honoree is Reginald Curry. He was at the scene of an apartment complex fire and caught a baby who was thrown from a second story window to escape the flames. Curry then went inside and saved a second child who was trapped.
