Bluffton State of Mind to be advertised on I-95

BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) — Business leaders in Bluffton want travelers on Interstate 95 to know what they may be missing.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (http://bit.ly/KeVuHY ) the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is launching an ad campaign next month by renting four billboards on the interstate between Walterboro and the Georgia state line.

The billboards will cost $46,000. The money comes from town accommodations tax revenues. The billboards will highlight Bluffton and include the address for a chamber website.

There was one dissenting vote to awarding the money.

Councilman Mike Raymond questioned whether the signs would really bring in business and wondered whether the town marketing slogan, “A Bluffton State of Mind” would translate onto billboards.
