Homers Help Clemson Knock Off #1 Florida St.

(WOLO) — For just the second time at home this season, Clemson clubbed more than one home run in a game. Three Tiger home runs helped Clemson overcome an early 2-0 deficit to come back to beat #1-ranked Florida St. 7-2 in the ACC series opener at Doug Kingsmore Stadium Saturday night. Brad Felder started the long ball theme with a solo shot in the 5th inning. The outfielder’s 6th home run of the season cut the FSU lead to 2-1. Richie Shaffer tied the game at 2 with a solo shot off the left field foul pole in the 6th. It was Shaffer’s team-leading 10th home run. Spencer Kieboom capped off the 6th inning with a 3-run shot that glanced off the FSU leftfielder’s glove and into the stands for a home run. Sunday’s second game of the series has been moved up to a 1 o’clock start to try to beat bad weather in the upstate area. Monday’s series finale is still set for a 6 p.m. start on ESPNU.
