Horry County judge OKs motorcycle burnouts
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A Horry County judge says the motorcycle burnouts can continue at the Myrtle Beach spring bike rally.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported (http://bit.ly/K30sBZ) that a Murrells Inlet biker got a temporary restraining order to allow the burnouts. SBB manager Bill Barber says the injunction was filed because the county’s special events permit didn’t allow burnouts.
In a burnout, a motorcyclist spins the wheels while staying stationary. This creates smoke and turns the rubber into dust. SBB’s indoor burnout pit has massive fans that pull the smoke and dust out once the burnout is done. Barber said it all settles back onto SBB’s property.
Horry County Circuit Court Judge Larry Hyman signed the temporary restraining order Friday. SBB’s website says the rally began Friday and goes through May 20.
