Woman hit, killed by train near SC coast

HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) — A woman has been struck and killed by a freight train in Hanahan outside of Charleston.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury says the victim was standing on the tracks when she was struck by a northbound train around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Salisbury says the woman died of massive injuries and has not yet been identified.

Salisbury’s office and Hanahan police are investigating.
