Pee Dee vigil focuses on community violence
LORIS, S.C. (AP) — A local chapter of the NAACP in South Carolina is bringing attention to violence in the community.
The Myrtle Beach Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is holding a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin and all victims of violence in Horry County in Loris on Saturday. It’s scheduled for the Kingston Lake Community Center.
Speakers at the event are slated to discuss different perspectives on violence and what the community can do about it. The speakers include parents, students, pastors, law enforcement and local elected officials.
