SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AP) — A member of the Air Force’s 20th Fighter Wing at South Carolina’s Shaw Air Force base is taking part in a military tribute at this weekend’s Indianapolis 500.
Fighter Wing spokeswoman 1st Lt. Ann Blodzinski says Maj. Andrew Congdon is a F-16 demonstration pilot with the 20th Fighter Wing.
Blodzinski says Congdon’s F-16 will be joined by an A-10 Warthog from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona and two P-51 Mustangs from the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation in the fly over.
The spokeswoman says the group will fly over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at noon Sunday during the playing of the national anthem.
