Tabor City assistant chief charged with DUI in SC

TABOR CITY, N.C. (AP) — The assistant fire chief in Tabor City has been charged with drunken driving in South Carolina.

The Fayetteville Observer reported (http://bit.ly/Jn8sTN) that Jeff Fowler has been suspended from driving town-owned vehicles while the case is investigated.

Fowler says he had consumed alcohol but was not drunk when he was stopped by the South Carolina Highway Patrol on Friday.

Fire Chief Jerry Hodges planned to meet with the town manager to discuss whether further disciplinary action would be taken before Fowler appears in court.
